Workers' Compensation
Colorado workers’ compensation laws require employers to provide
workers’ compensation insurance coverage all employees. If an
employee is injured while on the job, he or she may be eligible for
workers’ compensation benefits, including:
- Medical Benefits (medical care and treatment of the injury);
- Lost Wage Benefits (to compensate workers who must miss work, work
reduced hours, or perform “light duty” at lower pay as a result of their
workplace injury); and
- Disability Benefits (to compensate the worker in the event of a
permanent physical impairment resulting from the injury).

Workers who contract “occupational diseases” as a result of workplace exposure
may also qualify for workers’ compensation benefits. If a worker suffers a
wrongful death at work (or while doing an activity directly related to work),
Colorado workers’ compensation laws may provide benefits to the worker’s
surviving family members.
