Over the years, Frances Koncilja, a Colorado native, has built a reputation as a fearless and tireless trial lawyer, as well as a dedicated and respected community leader. She specializes in commercial litigation representing plaintiffs and defendants and also represents plaintiffs in class action disputes. Frances grew up in Pueblo, Colorado where she still has extended family, including her two brothers Joseph and James, who are both attorneys practicing in Pueblo.

Beginning with the Denver Public Defender's office in 1972, and later serving as an Assistant United States Attorney, Frances developed and honed her trial skills. She appeared in court almost every day during those five years. Frances entered private practice in 1978. Frances spent ten years as a partner in the Denver office of a 640-lawyer law firm. She founded Koncilja & Associates, P.C. in 1993. Most recently, Koncilja and Associates, P.C. prosecuted and settled a class action against Wal-Mart and Concentra Health Services which resulted in a monetary settlement and the entry of an injunction against Wal-Mart and its claims adjustor, CMI, enjoining them from using - in any fashion - protocols or directives that are inconsistent with the dictation of care provisions of the Colorado Workers’ Compensation Act or the Colorado Medical Treatment Guidelines. (For a copy of the Injunction, please go to “News and Events” on this site.)

As a successful "boutique" firm, Koncilja & Associates, P.C. has broad experience in business disputes and specialized expertise in many industries. Frances credits her Italian and Slavic blue-collar working-class background, and the work ethic she learned from her parents and grandparents, who worked in the steel mills, as giving her a leg up in the world of litigation. That and her willingness to engage in a good fight when necessary have served her clients well.
